What is energy? Energy is the vital and life sustaining force that is the source of the power that is used in the manufacturing of goods, the transportation of these goods, and the business involved in these two activities that form the backbone of the economy of the entire world. The supply and the demand of energy play an extremely important role in the economic output of a nation, and also in the national security of the entire nation. However, the need for energy is steadily increasing, and America is indeed gearing up to meet this demand successfully: the Department of Energy has established certain guidelines for the purpose of providing ‘clean fuel initiatives’ wherein the keyword is to make the most of the traditional ‘fossil fuels’, while at the same time trying to make the best use of the state of the art research facilities that are needed to develop the forces of fusion, and to utilize hydrogen, that can be used as an alternative source of energy that can reduce the present day dependence on imported oil, and also save a large amount of resources since it is possible to produce this energy from various domestic sources. The DOE or the U.S. Department of Energy is in fact presently engaged in developing the infrastructure that is necessary to protect the energy of the nation. It is a fact that the average American family ends up spending about $1,300 a year on the utility bills in their homes, and it is also a fact that a large amount of this energy ends up being wasted completely. If, for example, the basic insulation on the doors and the windows of homes were to be made more efficient, it would save a huge amount of energy. A ‘whole house energy efficiency plan’ would sort out this problem to a certain extent, and it can be said that conservation starts at home, and when there is more energy conserved at home, then in the larger picture, it would be more beneficial to the entire nation.
